About Patsy Charles

Founder

Patsy Charles launched the Dallas Skin Institute in 2002. Her mother significantly influenced her, knowing she would become a Beauty School developer and steered her to assist in her hair salons starting at 8. Studio Cuts, her mother Katherine, owned and operated in Dallas, Texas. From there, she mastered the many different layers that go into running select hair salons, including structure, scale, and education. This set her on the path that led to her vision changing the way students learned and the way teachers taught hair and skin. Miss Charles is at the core of her career, opening multiple beauty academies that are not a tradition of a typical beauty college.

“My mind is if I’m going to develop beauty academies, I want to leave my fingerprints all over… I don’t have the answers of what beauty schools should be teaching, but I imagine what they shouldn’t be influencing.”

For Miss Charles, the training is the focus — just about her only priority. She is known as a director. She is an innovator in the training of students in the hair and skincare industry and in developing trademarked product lines: Ooh-la-lash, Studio Kat, and DSI Cosmedics. These lines tailor the needs of professionals in the industry, refined over years of experience. Miss Charles received her cosmetology license in 1999, her permanent make-up certification in 2001, advanced make-up artistry in 2002, and became an instructor in 2004. Patsy is a mother to her seventeen-year-old daughter, Alexandria. She considers her daughter her favorite Starlet, with relentless energy and enthusiasm for life. Patsy grabbed single motherhood by the reigns and continues to steer in the right direction. She dreams of passing the baton down to Alexandria like her mother, Katherine, passed it to her.

The Birds & The Bees Foundation

Financial Aid

The Birds & The Bees, an organization dedicated to empowering women, was founded in November 2010. This organization provides services to single mothers and women fighting cancer. it also serves women who have been incarcerated who are seeking education toward a career in Estheology. Training is provided at a lower cost to women and those directly affected by these hardships who could not otherwise afford these courses. For every student who receives a certification from Dallas Skin Institute, the same class is available at a discounted rate to a woman who has won the fight against cancer, exiting out of prison or is facing the day-to-day challenges of being a single mother.

Our aim is to give back.

There is no better time than now to reach out and help us contribute to these extraordinary women + men. If you are interested in being part of this vision, please contact us!
